EmersonMade

Last time I posted on this site, I told you that I was spending a lot of time online, obsessing over all those fabulous blogs out there, and admiring the time, effort and skill that some people dedicate to their websites. We have indeed witnessed the rise of the amateur writer and the blogger is well ahead of the game. All of these design sites are making my head spin with inspiration, but the consequence of this overstimulation and the amount of great ideas that I come across is that I am finding myself quite frustrated by my lack of funds to actually act on them. I constantly want to update my decor and buy a million things for my home, paint the walls in a new colour every month and put up a different wallpaper daily. O-ver-whel-ming! No good can come from this!

I have actually been toying with the idea of adding different themes to Jass & Meen for some time, ideas and inspirations that are somewhat unrelated to interior decorating. It seems that most blog creators out there just posts anything that inspires them. When I started this site, I had the intention of sticking to one theme, interior decorating, and not being all over the map with my posts. I figured that there are hundreds of fantastic food blogs to be relied upon for great recipes, tons of talented photographers who publicly publish their work for all to see and even more fashionistas with way better taste than I could ever have. The conclusion at the time was that if I pursued all of my interests at once, I would end up with a website that researches a little bit of everything but cannot actually do anything right. I think that I may be changing my mind on that. I figured that six out of seven of my "followers" are family and/or good friends of mine who share the same interests in baking, photography and fashion so perhaps you handful of readers out there would be interested in knowing what I am whipping up in the kitchen and which dresses and shoes I desperately want to buy? So, what do you say? Permission to expand my horizons and blab about anything that goes through my crazy little mind?

The truth is, now that I have officially graduated (woohoo!), I feel like I can't be stopped. I have grandiose plans to pursue everything I have always wanted to without refrain. After years of studying topics I HAD to study in order to receive this piece of paper with the letters B.A. on it, now I just want to learn about what I want to do!! I want to learn more about photography, photoshop, website design, I want to master my baking skills, enroll in boxing lessons and actually make an attempt at becoming an interior decorator and for the first time, I feel like a have a little bit of time to myself to do just that. I realize that I regularly get this manic itch to take on a thousand projects at one and I am probably certifiably insane for it but I don't care. Call me crazy but I am going to ride this wave until the energy runs out ( and the reality kicks in that I simply can't do it all, hopefully never). Until then....here we goooooooo!!

So let's talk fashion. I know, I know. I have gone on and on about EmersonMade already on this site. First when I rambled on about my Thanksgiving napkins, then when I posted photos of Emerson's home and even not too long ago, when I was going crazy with the labels in my kitchen and looking at her pantry with a sparkle of envy in my eye. What can I say, I love EmersonMade. I love the clothes that she designs.

I love the farm she lives on.

And I am very inspired by her website, the photos that her husband takes and the life they lead. It seems so humble, yet glamorous, and ultimately, they look like they have SO MUCH FUN! You should seriously spend a little time looking at her blog, just don't buy too much because I plan on getting that little top and maybe a dress or two when I save up some money and there better be one left for me!

I hope that somehow I can learn from that and translate to you how much fun I have researching and posting on this site as well. Thanks for reading.

  1. Oh yay! Congrats on graduating! I found you through EmersonMade on Facebook. I love her simple yet chic style. And her personality is SO vibrant.

I think that you should blog about whatever tickles you at the moment! Some of your "followers" may not know about other blogs that focus on topics like fashion or beauty so you can bring that to them. It'll be like one-stop shopping.

  2. Happy Graduation! And I agree...My creativity has been stumped by overstimulation, too. I have almost stopped blogging because of it. I'm slowing getting back into it. Good luck with all your ideas.

  3. I, too, ADORE Emersonmade! :)

As far as expanding your blog to include more of your heart/mind/inspiration, go for it! I blogged for 7 years with just 'writing' before I finally revamped earlier this year. I am so glad I did! I just explained it to my few readers (haha) and then stayed true to myself without worrying that it would be too 'all over the map'...or maybe it is, and maybe my personality is just like that! So, kudos to you.
