Little Black Book---Montreal---BUK NOLA

I have just returned from a little Christmas visit to Montreal where, like most of us, I indulged in waaay too much food and wine but also, as mentioned here, a little shopping as well. Now, I may have grown up in Montreal and spent over 20 years of my life there, but I have been away for a long time and must admit that I find myself a bit out of the loop when it comes to shopping destinations for the home. So I turned to friends and family members and requested a few suggestions, which were greeting with a long pause and a complete lack of ideas. How disappointing! Where do people shop in Montreal? Don't they want to decorate their homes? I guess that this void can be seen in a more positive light for someone who wishes to, say, open up a boutique of her own one day, but in the meantime, where does one get decent wallpaper, fabric and lighting?

That being said, I was sent to a lovely shop called Buk Nola that deserves a little applaud. Cheap, chic and cheerful, this small boutique was a treat to walk into and I, being a good little researcher, took the liberty of taking a few photographs of the store for you (with permission of course.). In addition to carrying a quite a few accessories such as pillows, lights, stationary, jewelry and items for the wall, the two owners also refurbish chairs, tables and other vintage furniture, which they then sell at a very reasonable price. Their selection is quite small and rumor is, it doesn't change too often but it is still very much worth the visit. If you are ever in Montreal, this is my coup de coeur for now...
