Wallpapered Furniture

At first I wasn't sure what to think of Bryonie Porter's wallpapered pieces of furniture. They were posted on Apartment Therapy last Tuesday and, based on other readers' comments, it seemed like I was not the only one who didn't know what to make of them. The general consensus is that, normally, wallpapered desks simply don't look that great but somehow, Bryonie's pieces end up getting rave reviews. While I have to admit that I still have a hard time picturing some of the furniture that has been papered with a brighter, busier pattern in the average living room or bedroom, I can appreciate that a lovely motif can make an old piece look new, fun and colourful. Personally, I tend to choose softer, more subtle patterns because I worry that something more intense might limit my choices for other accessories and colours to decorate the rest of the room with. However, with an increasingly growing variety of patterns to choose from, I have to say that I am tempted to play around as well. I am particularly drawn to the solid pieces with wallpapered drawers lie those sweet little nightstand tables below.
