These are Things Maps

Well, it's about time! I ordered a map from These Are Things for my sister a few weeks ago, expecting to give it to her when she visited me, but it arrived very late, as does every item I ever order from the United States. I was sitting at my desk, looking out the window when the Canada Post truck pulled up (slooooowly, everything is so slow with Canada Post!) and out came this fun little box with this map rolled up in it.

I chose Madrid because she was in Spain last year (though not in Madrid, why don't you make a Barcelona map, These Are Things?!) but they come in six different European cities. I think it will look fantastic in a simple, neat frame.

The duo that makes up These Are Things are Jen and Omar, a young couple from Ohio. Their website follows their adventures as they made their way from working in a design house, your average 9 to 5 job, to owning their little company and working at it full time. It is fun to read and inspiring too for those of us who wish to follow that path as well.

The Design Sponge showed off their little apartment in Columbus, Ohio. It's simple and sweet. Check out the Eames chair (although this one is a replica), I will tell you more about it soon.

These are Things also make these American city maps in more subtle colours. Manhattan and San Francisco happen to be my favourites because I always have the best time there but there are other neighbourhood maps to choose from.

These Are Things are currently working on a new map as well as travel goods: document holders and travel tags. I want one!

The Design Sponge came up with a post on maps in its "best of" series recently. Apartment Therapy also recommended ways to decorate with maps if you are in need of more inspiration.
Maps are fun because they can remind you of great adventures you went on and inspire you to discover the world and explore new territories as well. They also make great, inexpensive wall art. What do you think of these ones?
