Recovering Lampshades, Part 2

I was pretty proud of myself and thought that I had done extensive research on the topic of recovering lampshades, then two days later, out of the blue, I come across this page by Ish and Chi, an Australian blog. To be honest, I read her blog fairly religiously and am surprised that I somehow managed to miss this post, the idea of recovering a shade having been in my mind for a little while now. I have yet to find the perfect lamp to play with, but have high hopes for this project. It will be my introduction to crafts, a sort of proof that I can actually do something with my hands other than typing at a computer.

Anyway, this Ish and Chi post led me to an even better site that shows you how to take on this project in a much better way than all of the websites that I had come across, combined. Thank you Olive and Joy. So today's lesson in interior design is called "Recovering Lampshades, Part 2". I hope you don't mind the repetition. I won't bore you with the instructions again, but the tutorial is straightforward and easy to understand if you wish to read it and the photos are so helpful.

Olive & Joy uses Kirin Notebook's tutorial as a basis for her recovering techniques. Complete with graphics and sketches, I highly recommend a quick peek at her blog if you want to undertake this project. A few examples below (if you click on the image to enlarge it, it actually makes a lot of sense).

And to leave you with a bit of inspiration, here is the lamp that Viv from Ish and Chi recovered. So many possibilities!
