I spent the afternoon with my gorgeous friend last week, taking boudoir photos for her husband to be. Initially, I agreed to do it as a favour to her, and because I am always willing to push my boundaries and try something new in photography. As it turns out, bourdoir shoots are an absolute blast! It was such a pleasure to listen to some tunes, direct and suggest a few poses and costume changes and overall, be given the trust and confidence to photograph this beautiful woman. I'm a lucky lady.
I also find the task of putting booklets together very enjoyable. Being a big supporter of printing photos and storing them with care, I spent much time thinking of the layout, the type of paper to choose, how to present it. While it is fun to peek at photos online, nothing compares to holding them in your hands, feeling the weight of the paper and spending time with each photo. It makes you slow down and appreciate it in a different way, it's a much more intimate experience. To me, it is important to occasionally go through your online pictures, choose your favourite photos and print them out; whether they be stored in a box in the basement or framed for all to see, these are treasures that you can revisit over the years and they are priceless. I'm glad that my friend chose me to take these photos and I am pleased that she now has a beautiful booklet that she will most likely keep for years.
